Crafts At Blackberry Blossom Farm
Blackberry Blossom Farm is a wonderful and creative place to live. Simple crafts like handmade quilts, twig furniture, candle and soap making, hooked and braided rugs, and hand painted artwork are all made and sold from our farm.
Our children have learned and revived several lost arts from the Appalachian Mountain culture and put a little modern twist on them. Come take a peek and learn how you can do them too.

Twig Creations
Being a family who uses what we have, Twig Furniture and Nature Crafts have always intrigued us. Just the idea of putting something useful together from the woods, beckons us to a simpler time when the nearest store was a days walk away by a mountain trail. We've made all manner of funky looking garden trellises and are just starting to venture into the world of arbors to hold up the grapes and wisteria.
Furniture for our deck, yard and campground are project goals, along with fashioning fences and gates from rhododendron. We also have dreams of styling a deck railing from the twisted knobby rhododendron branches. My sweet husband just laughs and shakes his head at my crooked creations, he's an engineer you know, all straight lines and such!
Candles and Soap
To Lye or not to Lye...
Soap making can require only a basic melt & pour soap base or become very involved with add-ins and dangerous chemicals. We choose to keep it very simple. We use blackberry seeds and some herbs, but that's not really too fancy-shmancy.
Hand dipping candles is a beautiful traditional craft. The smell of beeswax on a cold winter day and the glow of a homemade candle warms the heart. In our Moravian heritage, they use these in Love Feast services with a beautiful red paper frill at the base. I just love these!
Coming soon, you can learn basics of hand dipped candles and soap making here.

The Moravian Blessing:
"Come Lord Jesus our guest to be and bless these gifts bestowed by thee. Bless our loved ones everywhere and keep them in thy loving care. Amen"

Before moving to the Mountains of Tennessee in 1999, I spent 30+ years of my life on the coast of North Carolina where I painted furniture, candle sticks, salt & pepper mills, floor cloths, canvases, paper mache fish, and many other eclectic things. See pictures of some Hand Painted Beach Art here.
